The other wall opposite the kitchen can have a medium or a large window that suits the general look of the house. One wall can be selected to fix the dining room hutch. The next thing to look after is the electric fittings. The dining room should have sufficient lighting, a fan, space for the electric gadgets like the microwave and food warmer. Planning for additional fancy lights is also to be done so that electric wiring can be done accordingly. Coming to the furniture. The important furniture of the dining room is the dining table and chairs. A dining table and six to eight matching dining chair are sufficient for an average family. A space of approximately 6 feet by 6 feet will be required to position this conveniently. Another piece of furniture required will be a side table to place the extra dishes when meals are in progress. In order to lay out the dining room set as above with the furniture the size requirement of the dining room will be approximately 12 feet by 10 feet. The above set up is apt for an average family which lives in an apartment or a small house where saving floor area is of importance.
