The Amish Touch for your Dining Room

January 1st, 2010

It can sometimes be an extremely difficult affair when it comes to choosing furniture for your dining room. You need to take into consideration the many and various questions such as size, style, type of wood and quality, color and a variety of other factors. With so many options available, your safest decision would probably be to go with furniture that is sure to last, so that twenty years from now, your dining room set having aged, has yet aged like wine, for indeed there is something of the antique to its look and feel.

With such considerations. Amish dining room furniture is perhaps your best bet when looking for that perfect combination of homeliness and the touch of elegance and handcrafted design made to last a lifetime. Whether you are looking for a new dining room table, chairs, or a hutch, Amish furniture is worth much more than the time and money that you would otherwise spend on second rate designs.

Amish furniture is vastly superior from the majority of popular brands and designs available, and this is really due to a number of reasons. In the first place, there is the fact that each piece of Amish furniture is handcrafted, and as such is uniquely its own, brought to life, as it were, by an artist who puts a human touch into the natural wood, giving a spirit to it which can only be achieved through individual attention and work. This stands in contrast the very lifeless and often overly mechanical designs which come forth every day in the thousands from the many industrial factories, copies made from second rate material, often uneven, easily broken, and easily worn. On the other hand, Amish furniture is made from the highest quality wood, whether that be Oak or Maple, individually selected and formed together into a sturdy and solid piece, made to last.

Naturally, many of you may be thinking that the quality of Amish furniture would probably be a good indication that the prices are way above your budget. You would be surprised however to find that in fact, Amish furniture is much more affordable than what you may have initially thought, particularly if you consider going to any of the retailers who offer wholesale Amish furniture, where bargain prices for top quality furniture might be found.

When choosing any piece for your dining room, Amish furniture offers a wide variety and selection of wood as well as different staining options, so that you can custom design your dining table or hutch to suit the specific needs of your house as well as your own tastes. Whether you have more of a classic taste or the breezy light feel of the country, Amish furniture offers the best selection for your interests and style.

So if you were in doubt when it came to choosing a new dining room set, you might want to think about choosing Amish handcrafted furniture, which is guaranteed to bring both comfort and satisfaction to your home – as well as to your evening meals – which you may have been looking for.

Area Allocation for a Dining Room

December 30th, 2009

While planning to construct a house we should have an idea about the layout of the different rooms required for the house. This is required even if you are purchasing a built up house to check whether it suits your needs or not. The layout of the dining room from its position within the house to the placing of dining room furniture and other accessories is briefly explained below. First and foremost is the location of the dining room. In ideal circumstances it should be near the kitchen, as this will facilitate easy carrying of the food to the dining room. It should also be near the living room as living room is the common place of the house. However it is not good to have the passage to the living room to be through the dining room. If unavoidable, the door from the dining room to the living room may be kept near the door of the kitchen, on the adjacent walls of a corner of the dining room. To enhance the look, the entrance from the living room can be made into an arch instead of a standard door. At least one of the walls, especially the one opposite to the arch should be the outer wall of the house. A large window can be planned on this wall to have sufficient day light. The other wall opposite the kitchen can have a medium or a large window that suits the general look of the house. One wall can be selected to fix the dining room hutch. The next thing to look after is the electric fittings. The dining room should have sufficient lighting, a fan, space for the electric gadgets like the microwave and food warmer. Planning for additional fancy lights is also to be done so that electric wiring can be done accordingly. Coming to the furniture. The important furniture of the dining room is the dining table and chairs. A dining table and six to eight matching dining chair are sufficient for an average family. A space of approximately 6 feet by 6 feet will be required to position this conveniently. Another piece of furniture required will be a side table to place the extra dishes when meals are in progress. In order to lay out the dining room set as above with the furniture the size requirement of the dining room will be approximately 12 feet by 10 feet. The above set up is apt for an average family which lives in an apartment or a small house where saving floor area is of importance. For families requiring more elaborate and lavish set ups to suit their status, more area will be required. More about that style later!

Choosing the Right Dining Table

December 29th, 2009

All dining tables are made for one purpose really, but not all dining tables are created equal. You’ve got round ones, square ones, oval ones, rectangular ones; there are high end tables, thrift tables, arty tables, utilitarian tables and even tables with no legs. Also consider that the dining table shouldn’t overwhelm your room-if you’ve got a smaller dining room, a round table does wonders, but a rectangular affair may end up taking up far too much space-keep the dimensions of your space in mind. For instance you can DIY a dining room table using an old door. Here’s another idea, a dining table made out of original slabs of Korean flooring. An angled-leg dining table gives your room a exotic accent. Convertible dining tables which can double as a coffee table are useful for smaller spaces like apartments and lofts. Counter height tables are great for a bistro sort of feel.
