Dining Table – Rustic is in Vogue

February 7th, 2010

A rustic dining table is one which is a rugged-looking, outdoorsy and at times a hand-crafted piece of slab. The beauty of this design lies in its awesomely natural and unusually breathtaking décor appeal. Many classifications of woods can be used for the making of this slab, such as maple, oak and even faux plastic. The innovation of technology has lessened the demolition of natural resources, which in this case is forestland and timber.

The rustic dining table is sturdy and sometimes can be awkwardly designed in order to sustain its innate attributes of direct acquaintance with nature. Authentic rustic furniture can be unbearably exorbitant and they are extremely heavy. As a result, shipping charges for this furniture may be a tad higher when in comparison to other delivery goods.

A special wood processing method is applied during the construction of timber manufacturing, which retracts moisture from the kiln, enabling the long-lasting durability of the wood itself.

This type of slab gives the home a warm and hospitable quality to its overall appeal. It is quite rare to find a set in an urban setting with apartments and town houses. This piece of slab is more often than not handcrafted and accustomed to the purchaser’s personal home décor taste and style preferences.

The latest design of rustic dining table is made of Argentinean cypress trees and the authenticity is immensely gorgeous structure is a reflection of the intrinsic cracks and knots which are present in plentiful amounts in the tree itself.

In order to properly maintain the exquisiteness of this beautiful piece of furniture, wipe with soft, dry cloth, not a damped one. Use coasters when placing mugs and glasses in order to avoid ring-like moisture stains.
Accessories may include a glistening oil lamp in the centre in order to hearten the atmosphere of the woodlands.

Keeping Your Marble Dining Table Clean and Looking Like New

February 7th, 2010

A marble dining table is often an exquisite piece of furniture for your home. However, it is important to make sure you keep good care of it as it can easily be ruined, and can be a pain to get it cleaned and fixed. If you follow the correct procedure and keep regular maintenance on your marble dining table, then it will be a great addition to your home.

The first thing you should do when you install a marble dining table into your home is to get it sealed if it is porous. Although sealing will not prevent scratches on the table, it will help reduce table stains. In addition to sealing it when you get it, you should also seal your table about once a year.

If your table gets dirty, you may want to wipe it down. One thing to make sure when wiping down your table is that you end up using the right cleaner. When choosing a cleaner for your table, make sure to check whether or not the cleaner is designed for marble dining tables. If the cleaner is not designed for marble, then it can do more harm than good.

Drinks can also damage a marble table. If you are going to use a drink, especially an acidic one such as soda, you should make sure to use coasters to place your drinks on, and wipe up the drinks if they ever spill. Coasters will prevent the infamous ring that drinks can leave, and wiping up the drinks will help prevent staining.

If your table does get damaged, it is advised that you do not try to fix it yourself. It is suggested that you get it resurfaced by a professional. Although it is expensive, it is better to hire a professional than to try it yourself. If you want to avoid paying this hefty fee, then you should make sure to keep good care of your marble dining table.

Area Allocation for a Dining Room

December 30th, 2009

While planning to construct a house we should have an idea about the layout of the different rooms required for the house. This is required even if you are purchasing a built up house to check whether it suits your needs or not. The layout of the dining room from its position within the house to the placing of dining room furniture and other accessories is briefly explained below. First and foremost is the location of the dining room. In ideal circumstances it should be near the kitchen, as this will facilitate easy carrying of the food to the dining room. It should also be near the living room as living room is the common place of the house. However it is not good to have the passage to the living room to be through the dining room. If unavoidable, the door from the dining room to the living room may be kept near the door of the kitchen, on the adjacent walls of a corner of the dining room. To enhance the look, the entrance from the living room can be made into an arch instead of a standard door. At least one of the walls, especially the one opposite to the arch should be the outer wall of the house. A large window can be planned on this wall to have sufficient day light. The other wall opposite the kitchen can have a medium or a large window that suits the general look of the house. One wall can be selected to fix the dining room hutch. The next thing to look after is the electric fittings. The dining room should have sufficient lighting, a fan, space for the electric gadgets like the microwave and food warmer. Planning for additional fancy lights is also to be done so that electric wiring can be done accordingly. Coming to the furniture. The important furniture of the dining room is the dining table and chairs. A dining table and six to eight matching dining chair are sufficient for an average family. A space of approximately 6 feet by 6 feet will be required to position this conveniently. Another piece of furniture required will be a side table to place the extra dishes when meals are in progress. In order to lay out the dining room set as above with the furniture the size requirement of the dining room will be approximately 12 feet by 10 feet. The above set up is apt for an average family which lives in an apartment or a small house where saving floor area is of importance. For families requiring more elaborate and lavish set ups to suit their status, more area will be required. More about that style later!
